Patricia – 66 years – World Traveller
I have known Barry Leech for thirty-two years and consider him a very special person.
I first met Barry when I became an amputee in Canberra and Barry was Head of Department and Senior prosthetist at Canberra Hospital. At a very vulnerable time in my life Barry was very supportive and never satisfied unless I was happy with my prosthesis.
After ten years, I moved to Brisbane but continued to travel because I could not find anyone with the dedication to his clients as Barry. I was thrilled when he started his own company at Southport in 2003.
Barry is always keeping up with new advances as does his team, however when my stump became increasingly painful due to its small size, age, and nerve issues, we discussed Ossesointegration.
Barry gave me the courage and strength to have the surgery and his support during and after the procedure was invaluable. My only regret now is that because of the success of the business I see Barry less often, however the whole team at Barry Leech Prosthetics & Orthotics Pty Ltd are experienced, caring and nothing is too much trouble.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had Barry as my prosthetist over the last thirty-two years. He has helped me look upon being an amputee as just a bit of a nuisance and I have been able to maintain a positive attitude throughout my life. I feel I owe a large part of my happiness and independence to Barry.”
